If spending some time alone in the woods is what you're looking for, then you should check out the Indian Creek Recreation Area. Located just outside of Woodworth in the Alexander State Forest, there are plenty of recreational opportunities here, including a lovely little hiking trail. This forest trail in Louisiana is perfect for all age groups and abilities, and you can even bring along your fur baby for an extra special outing with your best friend.
The loop trail is about 3.5 miles long and will take you all around the recreation area. Most of the trail runs along the Indian Creek Reservoir.
The 2,250-acre reservoir is a great spot for fishing, boating, swimming, and all sorts of fun water activities. Keep this in mind for the summer season!
When you're not hiking with the water line, you'll be hiking through a sea of enchanting emeralds underneath the towering pine trees.
Between the Alexander State Forest and the Kisatchie National Forest, this part of the state is full of primitive trails that weave through remote areas. This particular forest trail in Louisiana is one of our favorites since it's relatively short, easy, and very scenic.
The trail is well-marked (look for the red blazes) and is a fun bike trail, too.
Benches are peppered along the trail, providing the perfect spots to park it for a minute and take in the view.
You might even see some wildlife! Deer are pretty common in the area.
You might even up loving the area so much, you want to extend your stay.
There are several primitive campsites as well as RV spots, so find yourself a good spot secluded in the woods and pitch a tent!
