Louisiana is a nature lover’s paradise, so it should come as no surprise that the Bayou State is just full of beautiful natural scenery that will awaken your inner outdoor explorer. There’s nothing like spending a few days camping in the wilderness, cooking your meals over a fire and stargazing, and one of the best places to go camping in Louisiana is at Jimmy Davis State Park. Grab your gear and let’s check it out!
Located on a peninsula on Caney Lake in Jackson Parish, Jimmy Davis Park is one of the most beautiful state parks in Louisiana.
And with 21 state parks to choose from, that’s saying something!
The 5,000-acre reservoir is a paradise for fishermen looking to top their record catch of the day.
The lake is also a popular spot for waterskiing, swimming, and kayaking.
No boat? No problem.
There are plenty of places to drop your line right from the shores.
The pier is the perfect spot to sit back and watch the reflections of the sky dance across the water.
Especially during sunset.
There’s also a lovely little stretch of beach to sink your toes into.
There's also a volleyball court.
Challenge the family to a friendly game or two!
There are 73 campsites for you to set up camp.
Both primitive and RV hookups are available.
But if you prefer the more modern camping style, there are plenty of cabins available to rent.
There are 17 cabins to choose from, and each one will sleep up to eight people and come with everything you’ll need to make your stay as comfortable as possible.
In the evenings, fire up the grill and cook that fresh catch of the day.
For dessert, you obviously have to make s’mores. It’s a campfire requirement! Afterward, sit back and relax and watch the stars in the sky. You might even catch a shooting star!
