Before summer officially ends, take the time to head out to Gonzales to experience this one-of-a-kind festival. This hot air balloon festival in Louisiana is a great family-friendly festival that kids and adults of all ages will enjoy, so mark your calendar! Let's take a closer look.
The Ascension Hot Air Balloon Festival returns to Gonzales at the end of September, and you’re not going to want to miss it.
The festival takes place September 27-29 at the Lamar-Dixon Expo Center.
The three-day festival is full of live entertainment and, of course, amazing food from local vendors around the area.
Thrill-seekers will especially love the carnival rides.
And there’s even a Children’s Village specifically designed for the little ones. This year, you can expect face painting, train rides, miniature Ferris wheel rides, and even a live meet-and-greet with Captain America and Spider Man!
You can even take a tethered balloon ride, where you’ll have the opportunity to ride in a hot air balloon that’ll ascend to about 50 feet, or less.
You’ll want to stick around until dusk, when the balloon glow happens.
Watch in amazement as dozens of hot air balloons light up the grounds with their beautiful balloons.
Following the balloon glow, there’ll be a dazzling fireworks display at 10 p.m. on both Friday and Saturday evening. Bring a blanket and watch the sky light up in a beautiful display of colors!
The festival takes place September 27-29, 2019
Address: 9039 S. St. Landry Avenue, Gonzales, LA, 70737
