With all of the rich history in Louisiana, it's no surprise that we have so many homes with a haunted history. There are so many homes that are full of scary and interesting stories. Here are some of the most creepy houses in Louisiana, some with histories that will truly make the hairs on your neck stand on end...
1. Loyd Hall Plantation, Cheneyville
There are many reports of haunting in this Cen-LA plantation home, including a blood stain in the attic that continues to reappear no matter how many times they try and clean it.
2. San Francisco Plantation House, Reserve, LA
Built in 1856, this plantation has been reportedly haunted numerous times. Common reports include a small boy crying during the night, a small girl who died on the staircases haunting the stairs, and an older man on the roof who may have jumped off at some point.
3. T’Frere’s House Bed And Breakfast, Lafayette
4. Bienvenue House Bed and Breakfast, St. Martinville, LA
This home was built in 1830 and was reportedly the site of a murder. Isabel Robertson was an innkeeper in the place and had a daughter with disabilities, Belle. Both are said to haunt the place, and the sound of Belle ringing her bell to call out for help has been heard over and over.
5. Shadows on the Teche, New Iberia, LA
Built in the early 1830s, this home was said to be haunted by a former resident who was killed by Union troops during the Civil War.
6. The Gardette-LaPrete House, New Orleans
This home, also known as the Sultan's Palace, was said to be the hideaway of a Turkish prince trying to escape the wrath of his power-hungry brother. Unfortunately, he was found, and he and his entire entourage were murdered in cold blood in the home, haunting it since.
7. Logan Mansion, Shreveport
This historic mansion in Shreveport is said to be haunted by some of the former owners, and is now available to visit and experience a murder mystery tour.
8. LaLaurie Mansion, New Orleans
This legendary home in New Orleans was the home of the infamous Madame LaLaurie, who tortured her slaves and was eventually run out of New Orleans by an angry mob.
9. Nicholson’s Home, Washington, LA
This home was a former hospital during the Civil War and is said to be haunted by many of the soldiers who passed away there.
10. Ardoyne Plantation House, Schriever, LA
This amazing piece of architecture is said to be haunted by a woman who wears a long flowing white gown.
11. Southdown Plantation House, Houma, LA
There have been repeated reports of this home being haunted, including ghosts in the attic and many others.
12. Hans Muller House, New Orleans
This home was owned by Mr. Muller, who owned a sausage factory in New Orleans in the late 19th century. Many adults, children, and pets were said to go missing after visiting their home, and eventually Mr. Muller committed suicide. But the hauntings continue!
