There are plenty of places to grab a drink in New Orleans, but not that many places to get bubble tea (until now). Feng Cha in Louisiana is one of the few places to get a taste of the boba craze, and if you’ve never had one before, you’re in for a real treat.
Bubble Tea goes by many names, including pearl milk tea, bubble milk tea, tapioca milk tea, boba tea, or just boba. This tea-based drink originated in Taiwan in the 1980s before immigrants brought it to the United States in the 1990s, initially in the Los Angeles Area before spreading to the rest of the country. With the help of social media, the boba trend seemed to go viral, thanks to the vibrant colors and how photogenic the drink is.
Feng Cha opened in the fall of 2022 much to the delight of thirsty folks looking to quench their thirst with a delicious bubble tea.
The national chain has more than 1,000 locations across the country, and now we have our very own on historic Magazine Street in New Orleans.
It’s a quick and easy place to pop in and grab and go, but there are also several tables peppered around so you can sit and enjoy your beverage, too.
And some colorful wall decor to be the perfect backdrop for your stylish selfie.
The menu is bigger than you'd expect, and each drink is completely customizable.
Typically, bubble teas fall into one of two categories: teas with milk and without milk. You'll also get to choose your level of sweetness, any toppings you want, and your ice level. Think of it like a Subway for drinks!
If you're not a fan of boba, you can always get yours without.
Feng Cha also serves a few desserts, too.
Tiramisu and cheesecakes are available in several different flavors to tempt you.
The combinations here are really endless, so you'll probably end up coming back again and again to try them all.
My personal favorite is the taro milk tea. Drinks are sealed so that you can mix them without having to worry about spilling, and then you get the joy of stabbing the straw through the seal. IYKYK.
Feng Cha is always bringing in new seasonal creations you'll want to try, too.
Like the dragonfruit and summer melon!
Follow Feng Cha on Facebook so you never miss out on any seasonal flavors. While you're on Magazine Street, consider taking some time to stroll down this beautiful street! Packed with antique shops, boutiques, and restaurants, you could easily spend an afternoon window shopping.
