Mexican food is always a good idea, and when you’re on the hunt for an especially memorable Mexican meal, many Louisianians turn to El Rio Grande, a Tex-Mex restaurant that’s been serving the Greater Baton Rouge Area for well over half a century.
Located on Airline Highway, El Rio Grande is Baton Rouge’s oldest Mexican restaurant.
It was established in 1962 by Joe and Eva Urdiales, who decided to open the eatery after moving to Baton Rouge. Nearly 60 years later, the restaurant is still family-owned and operated, now run by their son, Raul.
When it comes to authentic Mexican cuisine, you’ll have a hard time finding anything better than the food at El Rio Grande.
Just be sure to come hungry, because the portions are very generous!
Whether you’re looking for an intimate dinner for two…
…or a night out with your friends, El Rio Grande is perfect for any occasion.
The expansive menu features all your favorite Mexican and Tex-Mex dishes, plus several El Rio Grande specialties.
Just about everything is made from scratch, too.
Don't forget to check the drink menu. El Rio Grande has some of the tastiest margaritas in town.
There are eight specialty margaritas on the menu, ranging from traditional to frozen fruity margaritas like mango and strawberry -- the perfect pairing to your meal!
El Rio Grande is open for lunch and dinner six days a week, so you can satisfy those cravings whenever they strike.
Visit their Facebook page for current hours of operation.
