Baked potatoes are a wonderful side dish for just about any meal, but it's time for a change. There's a delicious BBQ joint just outside of Baton Rouge that's taking the baked potato to new levels, giving the humble spud a chance to shine in the spotlight as the main event -- and you need to try one. You'll need to bring your appetite 'A' game for a giant baked potato from Cou-Yon’s in Louisiana!
When brothers Paul and Michael Mladenka opened Cou-Yon’s in 2009, they had no idea they would quickly become the go-to spot for BBQ in the Greater Baton Rouge area.
Lovingly nicknamed “Louisiana’s Best BBQ Dive,” Cou-Yon’s casual dining room is the perfect atmosphere to sink your teeth into some finger-licking-good BBQ.
Since opening their Port Allen location, they’ve expanded to take their BBQ to the streets with food trucks, including a permanent food truck on LSU’s campus.
Cou-Yon’s is known for their unique flavors, blending Cajun spices with South-Texas BBQ that’ll make your taste buds explode.
BBQ platters and specialty sandwiches pepper the menu, as well as yummy treats like BBQ nachos, smoked wings, and more.
You'll even find several Louisiana classics you'll be tempted to try, like po'boys and crawfish étouffée.
But the real hidden gem on the menu are the stuffed baked potatoes.
These monster spuds are the ultimate comfort food.
First, you'll pick your protein.
This will be your most difficult decision of the day!
Options include pulled pork, smoked sausage, smoked meatloaf, smoked turkey, crispy chicken, fried shrimp, or fried fish.
Fried shrimp is a customer favorite, and looks almost too pretty to eat!
With so many different options to choose from, you'll find yourself planning a return visit so you can try them all!
For more information, be sure to visit their website and don't forget to give them a follow on Facebook so you can stay up to date on the whereabouts of their food trucks, daily specials, and more.
