Louisiana is home to an endless amount of lakes, rivers, bayous, and streams that are ideal for a day of summer fun. While our bodies of water may not be the crystal-clear blue that you’ll find in the tropics, there’s one beautiful lake that’s known as one of the clearest lakes in Louisiana. So, if you’re deterred by the murky water often found in our bayous and lakes, this might just become your new favorite swimming hole. Let’s explore this lake with the clearest water in Louisiana and bask in all its beauty.
You’ll find Lake Claiborne tucked away in the rolling hills of northwestern Louisiana in Lake Claiborne State Park.
The 6,400-acre man-made lake was formed when Bayou D’Arbonne was dammed in the 1970s.
Today, the massive freshwater lake is the perfect spot to spend a day splashing around.
Bring your beach gear and set up shop right on the water's edge.
The designated swimming area is roped off for your safety, so you don't have to worry about boats and canoes while you float across the clear water.
When it gets too hot, retreat to the tree line where you'll find several picnic tables and grills available to use.
The lake is always stocked with largemouth bass, striped bass, channel catfish, and more.
Fire up the grill and cook your catch with this incredible view.
When you need to stretch your legs, explore one of the many trails that weave around the lake.
There are over 10 miles of trails within the park.
You can also rent a canoe and explore the lake on your own.
Of course, sitting on the pier and watching the water with your best friend is always a good idea.
You'll quickly fall in love with the calming and clear water. Bring a tent and enjoy views like this for a picture-perfect getaway.
There are also several cabins available to rent.
In the evenings, sit back and relax while the sky puts on a dazzling display over the water ...
... and then wake up and go for a tranquil morning swim! Sounds like heaven, right?
