LARC’s Acadian Village authentically depicts a typical Cajun village lifestyle in the 19th century. In the '70s, 23 acres of land were cleared to build this amazing little village. Of the 11 buildings in the village, seven are authentic homes from the 19th century that were donated by families whose ancestors once lived in them. Each December, Acadian Village transforms into an enchanting display of Christmas lights, animated displays, carnival rides, and live entertainment. This event gets better and better every year, and it’s one of my favorite places to visit during the holiday season. And in my opinion, you should make plans to celebrate Christmas at Acadian Village this year! Here’s more on why you won’t want to miss this magical town celebrating Christmas in Louisiana.
Every year, the Acadian Village closes down for the month of November to transform into Noel Acadien Au Village, a magical winter wonderland.
For 23 days in December, you can stroll through this amazing spectacle and enjoy all of the twinkling lights illuminating each of the houses and walkways.
Half a million lights, animated displays, and holiday decorations are perfectly placed and will certainly put you in the holiday spirit.
Families with kids of all ages are sure to enjoy a visit to this holiday attraction in Louisiana.
Visitors can also enjoy carnival rides, live music, holiday shopping, and of course, photos with Santa.
You can purchase tickets for the rides separately once you’re there. Each ride takes three or more coupons, and coupons can be purchased from within the village. Remember it’s cash only, but there’s an ATM inside the village if you decide to purchase the coupons.
Santa will be there every night of the festival from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. waiting to take pictures with you!
Pictures are available for purchase only (no personal photography/personal camera allowed.)
You can also do some holiday shopping while you’re there.
You’ll find a wonderful assortment of Cajun crafts, local artwork, homemade treats, and other unique finds that make great stocking stuffers.
There will be hot chocolate, gumbo, jambalaya, nachos, popcorn, burgers, and more all available from Santa’s Kitchen, so be sure to come hungry!
Is there anything better than walking around taking in all the holiday lights while sipping a hot chocolate?
It gets pretty crowded during the weekends, so try to come out during the week to avoid the crowds.
And as it gets closer to Christmas, expect the crowds to grow.
The festival is traditionally open seven days a week. For specific times and prices, be sure to visit the official Noel Acadien au Village website.
