From the backroad mom n’ pop shops to the local landmarks that have been around for generations, the Bayou State certainly has no shortage of amazing restaurants. This might just be the most beautiful restaurant in all of Louisiana - and you need to make the road trip over here to see for yourself.
Blue Dog Cafe has been delighting Acadians since 2000. It may look humble from the outside, but the beauty of this eatery comes from within.
In 2015, they opened up a second location in Lake Charles, featuring the same modern Cajun cuisine that the original location is known for.
When you step inside, you’ll feel like you’ve walked into an art gallery.
And in a way, you have. The walls are full of artwork by Louisiana native George Rodrigue, who was known for creating the iconic Blue Dog series.
The vibrant colors of Rodrigue’s artwork really add a unique atmosphere that you won’t find anywhere else.
The only thing better than the atmosphere? The food! The menu features a delicious assortment of Cajun classics with their own unique spin and flavors as bold as the artwork.
For starters, be sure to order a plate of La Cajun Macaroni Gratin for the table.
It takes homestyle mac & cheese and kicks it up a few notches with crawfish tails, onions, peppers, and gruyere cheese. Yum!
You’ll have a tough time deciding on what to pick as your main meal, as everything is mouthwateringly good.
From crawfish enchiladas to their popular Blue Dog Burger, there’s something for everyone here.
If you truly can't decide, go for the Half & Half and feast on crispy soft shell crab, fried shrimp, crawfish étouffée, Louisiana popcorn rice, and a delightfully creamy coleslaw.
Blue Dog Cafe's drink menu is as epic as its food menu. The specialty cocktails crafted here are creative, refreshing, and absolutely delicious.
And don't you dare leave without savoring one of Blue Dog Cafe's decadent desserts!
As if you need another reason to add Blue Dog Cafe to your foodie bucket list, Chef Ryan Trahan was crowned king of the 2018 Great American Seafood Cook-Off!
That's right - you're meals are prepared by culinary royalty!
