When that Louisiana heat starts to settle in for the summer, you've got to find ways to cool down. From underrated state parks to hidden forest lakes, Louisiana has plenty of spots to make a splash, but few can compare to this epic aqua park in Louisiana. It's a great way to kick off summer, so grab your sunscreen and a few friends and get ready to have a blast.
Tucked away in the sleepy little town of Franklinton, White Sands Lake Day Beach is one of the most underrated hidden gems in Louisiana.
The spring-fed lake is the perfect spot to cool down on a hot summer day.
The aqua park attracts visitors of all ages.
There are several inflatable water slides, blob bags, and trampolines for everyone to enjoy.
There's also a section specifically for kids 12 and under, just to make sure everyone is safe. Also, kids 12 and under are required to wear a life vest while in the water. You are welcome to bring your own or rent one.
If you're planning on spending the afternoon at White Sands, renting a cabana is the way to go.
Escaping the sun and finding shade is important!
The beach offers both small and large cabanas, and each one comes with picnic tables, trash cans, and a charcoal grill.
Bring some burgers and fire up the grill!
You can also rent a canoe, kayak, or a stand-up paddleboard to explore the lake on your own.
After you've conquered the aqua park and paddled the perimeter, find a patch of sand, sit back, and relax.
It's a little slice of tropical paradise in Washington Parish!
Be sure to visit the White Sands Lake website before you visit to reserve your cabana ahead of time. You can also find information on day passes, season passes, and rules and regulations which will help you plan your trip. If you've ever visited White Sands Lake, let us know in the comments!
