The convenience of a big city can be nice, but some of us more so prefer the quiet, serenity of rural Kentucky. There is something special about our beautiful state where it is sparsely developed. The small communities are tightly interwoven (though homes can be miles apart) and offer a unique style and way to live.
Here are 22 rural Kentucky photos that prove it is the best:
22. Sled without fear of cars.
Imagine sledding with absolutely no fear of cars.
21. Bridges like this:
Images like this beautifully preserved bridge use to be common throughout Kentucky. Now there are only a few left like this one in Springfield.
20. An old barn
This old barn gives this snowy picture the look of a vintage black and white photo, without the effect. Images like this can be common in rural parts of the Bluegrass State.
19. Angels Road
This is a scene of the Milkyway via Fort Campbell. The photographer stated it would be visible when looking south by southeast in the spring, and south by southwest in the summer.
18. Old barn
This old barn has probably been standing longer than most of us have been alive. They built them to last back in the day. In the city, this is an eyesore. Here, it is a landmark, and a reminder of what once was.
17. The real white picket fence:
In my humble opinion, this white picket fence with a view in Meade County is far more appealing than one in a big city.
16. Reflections of Camargo
The colorful clouds are mirrored in the pond perfectly.
15. Cardinals
The cardinals are plentiful in this beautiful scene via Hatfield KY in Pike County.
14. Classic red barn farm
This is a perfect traditional farm scene right down to the red barn.
13. Eagle's nest
You just don't t see a Bald Eagle's nesting in the city.
12. Eagle Falls winter
This is a beautiful shot of a partially frozen Eagle Falls in the Cumberland Falls Park.
11. Eagle Falls
In most cases, you do not find waterfalls in large cities unless they are man-made. There are exceptions to every rule.
10. Horses at sunset
This beautiful scene is on a farm in Dexter.
9. Ladder to the sun
The ladder to the sun is a well kept secret in Eddyville. Well, it was a well kept secret till now.
8. Looking back
This photo was just inspirational, as you look forward and back at he same time, seeing the beauty of Kentucky in both directions.
7. Pike County
This view would not be possible were there a large city here. Props to Pike for preserving some of our natural beauty.
6. Pike County Airport
I’ve never seen an airport quite this beautiful as Pike County Airport’s Hatcher Field.
5. Surprise dinner guests in Bell Hollow
You get surprise dinner guests that are quite beautiful and very photogenic.
4. Smith's Grove sunrise
The way the sun gives this field a golden glow is a lot prettier then when it glistens off the glass of buildings.

2. Sunrise in Hancock County
This beautiful scene is what the people in this rural area of Lewisport are greeted with daily.
