With so many wonderful local restaurants in Kentucky, an eatery has to do something special to really stand out. Maybe it's over-the-top service, a beautiful and unique atmosphere, or a menu that will please any palate. Or maybe it's all of the above and at OBC Kitchen in Kentucky, that is definitely the case. This local restaurant in Lexington is a favorite of bourbon lovers for its rare collection, but it's also the perfect dining spot for anyone who loves food (AKA, everyone). The menu has a few unique items and the bacon dipped in peanut butter is a true stand out - don't knock it 'til you try it.
OBC Kitchen - the OBC stands for Old Bourbon County - is a lovely restaurant on Tates Creek Road in Lexington. The interior is cozy with leather booths and reclaimed barn wood and there is also a charming outdoor seating area for nice days.
As you may have guessed from the name, OBC Kitchen is known for its extensive bourbon selection. They carry some that you can't easily find elsewhere.
But they take everything at this restaurant up a notch, including the drinks. How does a glass of bourbon with smoky bacon sound? Their wine, cocktail, and beer list is just as impressive as the bourbon selection.
And the bacon isn't reserved just for the drinks. When you visit, you must order the Bacon in a Glass. It comes with creamy peanut butter for dipping and although it sounds odd, this is one of the tastiest appetizers around.
OBC Kitchen serves a delicious weekend brunch on Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 3pm. Try the Kentucky Kitchen Hot Brown or anything else on this flavorful menu.
The dinner menu also dazzles and each item is wonderfully prepared. If you need help pairing up bourbon or wine with your meal, the staff is more than happy to assist.
You'll want to make a reservation for your visit to this local eatery as it is popular. And when you do make it there, try the bacon dipped in peanut butter and be sure to come back and let us know that you agree it is downright delicious.
