Haunted houses are exciting attractions this time of year in the Bluegrass State. Of course most of these creepy destinations are made up of actors, special effects, and a whole lot of fake blood, but there's something even scarier than all of that. A real haunted house in Kentucky transforms into an attraction each fall to raise money to keep it around and preserve its history. Waverly Hills Sanatorium is a haunted property that's well known not only in Kentucky, but throughout the country. Play with the paranormal at this real haunted house in Kentucky that's arguably one of the best in the state.
By now you likely know a bit about Waverly Hills Sanatorium in Louisville.
This former hospital is known for its architecture, history, and of course as being one of the most haunted places on the planet. Believers in the paranormal travel from all over the world to visit this iconic destination.
In fact, it was this haunted connection that has saved the building from demolition.
The owners have offered tours and other events to raise money to keep this fascinating (and creepy) piece of Kentucky history alive. And it seems that other things are clinging to life on the property, as well.
Each fall, Waverly Hills takes advantage of its spookiness and hosts an epic haunted house in Kentucky.

There are two different ways to experience the Waverly Hills Haunted House - if you're brave enough.
You can just show up on the evening you choose and purchase a standard ticket, then go stand in line. Another option is to purchase a VIP ticket which gets you through the line faster and also includes a mini tour. These VIP tickets can be purchased online ahead of time or in person, but there are a limited number available for each night.
The Haunted House is set up inside the former hospital, which honestly doesn't need much transformation.
Keep in mind that the attraction is open rain or shine, but you may be in the elements while waiting in line. Once inside, be prepared for paranormal happenings - both imagined and perhaps even real.
We highly recommend snagging a VIP ticket, especially if you have yet to visit Waverly Hills.
