Kentucky is filled with adventure in the summer, but fall is also a beautiful time to explore our diverse state and its natural beauty. All of Kentucky's amazing state parks should be on your fall bucket list, but Cumberland Falls State Resort Park is particularly special this time of year. With many hiking trails that include stunning waterfalls that will now be surrounded by a painted backdrop, now is the time to visit one of the state's most loved destinations.
3. Land Between the Lakes - 238 Visitor Center Dr. Golden Pond, KY 42211
As one of the most diverse areas of Kentucky, the Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area is full of life in the fall. Wander down one of the countless trails, take in the colors by a lake, and enjoy the pure magic of this lovely part of Kentucky.
4. Pennyrile Forest State Resort Park - 20781 Pennyrile Lodge Rd. Dawson Springs, KY 42408
Pennyrile Forest State Resort Park is filled with endless color in the fall and definitely warrants a visit. The scenes around the lake are the real showstopper and if you need a spot to spend the night, camping here is a true pleasure.
5. Drive through horse country. - Old Frankfort Pike
You can't take a fall foliage trip through Kentucky without driving through horse country. Try the drive down Old Frankfort Pike that runs between Lexington and Frankfort. You'll see plenty of colorful horse farms, a few distilleries, small towns, and of course the infamous tree-lined streets.
6. Grayson Lake State Park - 314 Grayson Lake State Park Rd. Olive Hill, KY 41164
We may have a bit of a love affair with this lovely state park, and from the picture we bet you can see why. Grayson Lake State Park is a hidden gem and the perfect spot to view fall foliage this season. If you want a unique view, check out SUP Kentucky's stand up paddle boarding tours of the lake. It's a great way to experience Kentucky's natural autumn beauty.
