The Best Sunrise View In Kentucky Is Worth Getting Up Early For

There are certain places in our beautiful state that many do not believe are actually in Kentucky. Those not familiar with Kentucky's landscape are shocked to find out that we are home to massive caves, scenic gorges, mountains, and areas such as the Berea Pinnacles. As one of the best hiking spots in the Bluegrass, this scenic route is actually several trails that lead to the most spectacular views. Lucky for us, talented photographer Freeman Kelly has captured the East Pinnacle in an amazing drone video from the sky. Check out this beautiful area of Kentucky and plan your own visit to get the best sunrise view in the state.
Berea is a town in Kentucky that really should be on your bucket list of places to visit.
It shows the East Pinnacle, as seen above, as well as the impressive views you can take in while hiking in the area. There are several trails to choose from or plan a day or two to tackle them all.
The East Pinnacle is a must for its sweeping views, which are so worth the climb.
And these trails are quite a climb, so keep that in mind when heading out. Bring lots of water and dress appropriately for the weather. As with any trail - especially at sunrise - it's best to not do this alone.
Once you reach the top, be cautious - there are no railings - but be sure to truly take in these views.
This unique destination in Kentucky may be unbelievable to some, but we know that natural beauty abounds in the Bluegrass State. This is just one more example of its wonder.

Why We Love It: It's taken several trips for me to figure out my perfect "weekender bag that's TSA approved," but I've found my perfect carry on with the TOBIQ Colorado 30L. Winter is right around the corner, which means it’s time to start preparing. That means making sure our tires are in good shape and packing our trunk with supplies – blankets and an ice scraper, for example – just in case. But what can we expect from the upcoming winter? As far as winter weather predictions in Kentucky go, we should expect below-average temperatures for the 2024-2025 season. February will have temperatures that will chill you to the bone at 4 degrees below normal. Expect the coldest periods this winter to be late January through early February and again in late February. So, get ready and make sure you have all the winter gear ready to go ahead of time. That means everything from clothing layers, boots, mittens, hats, and coats to an emergency kit for your vehicle.

If you’re not in the holiday spirit as the calendar’s pages turn to December, chances are you soon will be. The Old Farmers' Almanac winter forecast for Kentucky predicts snowfall in the later weeks of the month. So, be prepared to deal with some form of snow – showers, flurries, and/or a wintry mix – around Christmas. We might get a white Christmas, after all! We may evenring in the New Year with some flurries and snow showers.
In addition to late December, we should expect snow showers between late January and early February, then more snow again in late February. Throughout the region, snowfall should be above normal so keep that in mind if you plan on traveling to a neighboring state.
If you plan on staying put this winter in Kentucky, there are so many things to do. Not only are there beautiful holiday light displays in Bowling Green and Florence, but you can truly get into the Christmas spirit in towns like Frankfort and Bardstown. And then there's all the sledding, tubing, and ice skating you can do along with peaceful winter hikes through a snowy forest. Sounds lovely, doesn't it?
You may also want to plan a winter getaway to take advantage of the quiet that winter brings. Places won't be as overrun with tourists and you may even find deals on hotels and vacation rentals. However, there's also nothing wrong with a staycation this winter.
