There are many unique things to do in Kentucky, and one that always gets a lot of heads turning is the Ark Encounter in Williamstown. Many locals have ventured to this larger-than-life destination and people from all over the world also come to the Bluegrass State to experience it. If you've been considering a visit, especially with little ones, now is a great time to plan it, as they've now opened up a playground too. You may have seen Noah's Ark in Kentucky photos before but there is nothing like going and seeing it for yourself. The playground can be found in the most unique setting and it adds more fun to an already action-filled outing.
The Ark Encounter in Williamstown is a life-size replica of Noah's Ark that, as you can imagine, has gained a lot of attention since it opened. Ever since we saw the first of the Ark in Kentucky photos we knew we had to take a trip and after going we can confidently say this was one epic trip.
Like us, It also has brought visitors to Kentucky from all over the world and has many unique attractions to offer guests. As a family-friendly destination, there have always been many things for the kids to do, and now they'll have another area to explore.
The Ark in Kentucky also has a unique playground with a setting that is unlike any other in the state.
The Ark stands in the backdrop of the playground and is a great spot for families to relax and play. There's something for all ages and the kids will look forward to some playtime during a visit. This Kentucky Ark playground is themed after the biblical account of Noah's Ark. So you will see several animals all throughout the structure for children to play on. Soar like an eagle on the zipline, slide down the tunnel slide like a playful otter, and ride the back of a giant whale.
The play structure at this playground in Kentucky is large and offers something for many ages.
Little ones can slide, climb, and run to their heart's delight. The design of the playground combines traditional equipment with the theme of the story which goes perfectly with the Ark's surroundings.
From everywhere on the playground little ones will have a great view of the Ark.
The playground isn't the only attraction at the Ark that the kids will love.
As you can see from the photo above, the Ark Encounter has many things to do for families, along with the Ark itself and the museum. In fact, there is so much to do here that when you purchase your admission ticket, you also receive an "Explore More" ticket that allows you to come back the next day to explore the grounds.
Our favorite part of the Ark Encounter was the Ark itself. As you enter the bright sun fades away in the dark haul of the ship and large speakers depict what it would have been on that fateful day. Cracks of thunder and pouring rain mix with the sound of the creaking wood setting a very atmospheric experience. Once inside you get a chance to see how big Noah's Ark was and how they could have fit the animals inside.
There are rows and rows of cages and informational exhibits that completely amazed us as we truly experienced the Ark.
Similar to the animals they depict inside they also fleshed out what the living quarters would be for Noah and his family.
The whole place was made with excellence and blew us away.
One of the more popular features of the Ark is the zoo, which offers an accessible pathway through a variety of animals.
During your visit, also check out the zipline, for a unique way to see the grounds. There are also shops, places to dine, and shaded areas to sit and relax.
You can even get a chance to ride a camel!
Fossil Find is also a fun spot to take the kids where you can purchase a bag of dirt and then discover what you can find.
And of course, the Ark itself is a large museum that is the main attraction. Most come for the Ark but also find that there are many other activities and things to see.
We have to say this playground in Kentucky is a great addition to this already popular attraction in the Bluegrass.
If you were looking for another reason to visit the Ark Encounter, now's the time to plan a trip and experience all this destination has to offer for all ages.
