If you're not able to hike long trails that take forever to finish, then this waterfall is perfect for you. Honestly, the hike to this spot is almost too short to be called a hike at all. Of course, you're welcome to explore and make things a little more interesting, but what's better than a waterfall? This amazing waterfall is your reward after only a little bit of hiking to get there. Come see for yourself!
Today's waterfall destination is located at Bourbon State Fishing Lake, hiding out in Uniontown, southeast of Iola.
The waterfall it located on the north side of the lake, hiding out just off the road here. It's not a far walk, but it's recommended you wear closed toe shoes as there are residents who might get stepped on during your visit.
The beautiful waterfall is both tall and plenty loud, though not loud enough to cover the sound of you talking as you approach. The rushing water is soothing to the ears, and during drier months may only show up as a trickle.
After a good rain, the waterfall looks breathtaking, with plenty of rushing water and picture-taking potential.
The path leading up to the waterfall isn't available for cars, but is plenty big enough for hikers or a family to walk up themselves. The water generally flows well from April until July, though we've seen it active in the winter too.
It's even a beauty in the wintertime, when the ice forms a frozen waterfall that eventually becomes solid if we get cold enough temperatures.
All in all, the lake itself is a beautiful place to visit and explore, even if you only come for the waterfall.
