Kansas' natural beauty varies so widely based on where you're adventuring. We've got areas like the Flint Hills that are lush, and areas like the Gypsum Hills that are much drier. That's just more reason to get out there and explore wherever you can! There's plenty of wildlife running around Kansas just waiting for you to catch a glimpse. What if I told you that you can do just that right in southwest Kansas? This wildlife park is just waiting for you to come visit.
Welcome to the Sandsage Bison Range, where you can spend a day visiting these beautiful creatures or just taking a walk through nature.
They're located in a beautiful section of 3,760-acres of the Sandsage Prairie, protected by their efforts.
Starting in the spring, you can go on guided tours to see the bison living at this range.
Of course, you'll have to stay behind the rails, but you're still getting pretty close to an animal we don't see often.
During the summer, you can also go on a number of other tours through this facility.
Participate in bird counts, butterfly counts, wildflower walks, or even go stargazing on the prairie right here at Sandsage.
You're also able to purchase a membership, which supports the range and gets you entry to special events.
What's better than supporting local wildlife directly? Of course, it doesn't all go to buffalo. There's a number of other species like elk and deer that also make this area their home.
The best part of the trip is appreciating the beauty of the prairie.
For more information on tours and prices, you can visit their website here.
