Welcome to The Elephant Bistro, a restaurant hiding out in Hoxie, Kansas, a town of just under 2,000 people.
This beautiful restaurant stands tall among the other shops on Main street, looking like any other restaurant you might see in small town Kansas. Inside however, you'll find just the opposite.
When it comes to this restaurant, there's more than meets the eye.
Owner Emily Campbell opened this restaurant up in July of 2018, and has been running things smoothly ever since.
Though it looks a little fancy in here, don't be afraid. There's no dress code--anyone and everyone is welcome.
Not only do they serve small town service with a smile, they also wear their history proudly for all to see. The circa 1905 building is one of the last remaining original structures on the street, and their mural really shows where their roots are.
Their menu is filled with tasty spins on classic meals you might recognize.
It's a little fancier than you'll find in the average Kansas kitchen, but don't worry--the taste is all there, plus a little extra. Most of their meats are sourced from local farmers, and other produce when in season.
Along with their scrumptious savory dishes, you'll find their desserts are also worth every penny.
Their fresh apple bread pudding and tableside s'mores are a local favorite, so don't be afraid to sample both. During warmer months, you can also dine outdoors on their patio, which is a great setting for special events or date night.
If you're super busy and only have a short while to stop in town, you can grab lunch from the cold case instead of sitting down to a longer meal.
They've got options for everyone, including sandwiches and salads ready for you to take with you.
