The "Best Barbecue In Kansas" is a tough title to obtain, with all sorts of restaurants all over the state trying to claim it. Most of them are amazing, but only one has been named the best in the state. This restaurant was actually named the Best Barbecue In The Country, it's so good. Have you been to this legendary restaurant yet?
Joe's Kansas City Bar-B-Que is the best in the country.
Well it was a small town gas station before the barbecue changed everything. The first Oklahoma Joe's opened in 1996 in Stillwater, Oklahoma. It soon grew, and began spreading to states like Kansas that loved barbecue the most.
It was once a simple Shamrock, but little bbq shop called Oklahoma Joe's opened up, and eventually word spread around about the new best place in town.
Not too long after that, there were lines out the door and they still to this day run out of meat before the day is done. Now, we know them as Joe's Kansas City Barbecue and there's nothing better when it comes to sauce and meat.
They've earned a cult following, and Joe's is known nationwide as the best barbecue in the country, thanks to The New York Post.
They've definitely earned the title for themselves, too. Juicy fall-apart ribs, tender brisket, and perfectly crisp burnt ends make this restaurant great from the ground up.
Plus, you'll never get enough of their tomato-molasses sauce.
They've been crafting signature sandwiches as well, and have a good spread between old favorites and new flavors. This one is the Rocket Pig, a sweet and spicy combo of pulled pork and fried jalapenos.
Their Z Man and Smokey Joe sandwiches are two other very popular picks, especially if you're just here for lunch. However, beware of the line! Make sure you get here early if you want a taste, or your favorite meat might be gone already.
Despite selling out of their wares all the time, this restaurant still makes you feel right at home. It's humble start has only grown into more locations to share these flavors with the world
Joe's is open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and until 10 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. Come early, and leave hooked.
You'll find the main location at 3002 W 47th St, Kansas City, KS, but the food is just as good at their other two locations, 11723 Roe Ave., in Leawood, and 11950 S Strange Line Rd., in Olathe.
If you love Joe's, then these cult classic restaurants around Kansas are sure to taste just as good.
