Welcome to Ad Astra Alpacas, an alpaca farm in Baldwin City, Kansas where you'll find that each and every alpaca has its own special personality.
Visiting the alpacas at the farm is as simple as calling ahead of time to make sure their schedule is open for you. They need warning to expect guests, and so do the alpacas!
When they're full of wool that they grow all summer, fall, and winter long, they're incredibly soft and fluffy, as if they're wearing coats they grow themselves.
In the springtime, they're sheared for their wool and run around without their coats for a while. That wool is what makes the natural products sold here at the farm!
Alpaca wool is hypoallergenic and very soft, and perfect for many things.
At the shop, you can buy skeins of yarn and raw fiber, gloves, scarves, hats, socks, rugs, and even blankets. For the kids, little alpaca finger puppets are too cute to pass up.
Ad Astra Alpacas is listed as open from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturdays, and from 1 to 4 p.m. on Sundays. However for tours, they ask that you call ahead of time at (785) 594-6767 to arrange your visit.
