Like everything, county parks vary in quality, but we think we’ve found the best family-friendly park in Iowa hiding right here in Urbandale. Walker Johnston Park is an incredible suburban retreat filled with hiking trails, sports courts, fountains, sculptures, and even two big surprises: one of the best old-fashioned playgrounds in Iowa for the little ones and an adrenaline-pumping skate park for teenagers. It’s the perfect destination on a sunny summer day where everyone can play until the sun goes down.
