You never know what's hiding in Iowa's small towns unless you get out and see them for yourself. One little town in Delaware County is home to the biggest whitewater park in the state. Manchester Whitewater Park is a river adventure like no other!
Manchester, Iowa is a small town that sits right on the wild and scenic Maquoketa River.
Thanks to efforts by the town and county, one part of this quaint town has been turned into a whitewater kayak and tubing park, and Iowans everywhere flock to this stretch of the river for adventure.
The Manchester Whitewater Park has been open since 2015, when an old and dangerous dam was replaced by rock and current features.
Now, adrenaline junkies and water bugs can hit the river in kayaks and enjoy the river adventure of a lifetime along more than 800 feet of river and rapid.
There are six water features here that paddlers can enjoy. The strength and difficulty of the hazards depends on the river flow, so be aware of your abilities before you hit the water, and always wear a PFD!
If you're new to paddling, visit The Watershed to rent everything you need for a day on the river.
While most people want to give whitewater kayaking a try, you can also rent tubes for a different kind of adventure!
Whether you drop in on a tube or in a kayak, get ready to get wet! Chances are, you'll leave the water soaked and smiling.
