Indiana has some pretty interesting attractions, from the world's largest ball of paint to the world's largest rocking chair. However, did you know the the largest children's museum in the entire world is actually located right here in the Hoosier state? That's right - and you definitely want to see it in person.
The Children's Museum of Indianapolis is a remarkable museum offering five floors of artifacts, exhibits, and fun and educational displays. This world famous museum is the largest on the planet and is packed full of fun exhibits to explore.
The Children's Museum of Indianapolis opened its doors in 1925, and the current building was built in 1976. It's gone through several expansions and now clocks in at roughly 472,900 square feet. This popular museum now brings in over one million visitors annually.
You'll find ton of exhibits and activities to delight both children and adults alike. The beloved Dinosphere exhibit allows visitors to experience life-size dinosaur skeletons, see one of the largest baby dinosaur fossils in the world, touch a real T-Rex bone, and even dig for fossils.
Right now you'll also find an incredible Circus exhibit, starring your child. Kids can walk into the Big Top and meet real circus performers. There's even a virtual reality tightrope to walk and performance opportunities for kids.
A new permanent exhibit that just opened is the American POP exhibit. This pop culture exhibit featuring classic and popular American music, fashion, toys and games, books, comics, and film and TV characters and staples. You can also experience how trends and technology changes over the ages.
An interactive exhibit on display right now is the DANCE exhibit, where you can view popular and classic dance styles and even participate in DANCE activities.
This museum is also home to a historic carousel that turned 100 this year. Kids can still enjoy a fun ride on this historic structure, located inside the museum.
Other awesome current exhibits include an All Aboard train exhibit, the Lilly Theater, Playscape, Fireworks of Glass, Treasures of the Earth, Take Me There: China, ScienceWorks, Beyond Spaceship Earth, Stories from our Community, and Power of Children.
