When it comes to great food, Indiana has some of the best local options around. In fact, Indiana has some amazing unique desserts that could rival some of the nation's top city restaurants. If you're looking for slightly different desserts that are top rated, check out these tasty treats:
1. Sugar Cream Pie - IN
This low key, 3 ingredient pie is a Hoosier specialty and is unique to Indiana. Sometimes called Hoosier Pie or Finger Pie (it’s recommended you stir the cream with your finger), this sweet treat is a simple, crumbly, delicious delight. Think of a laid back creme brulee large enough to share (or not!).
2. The Flying Cupcake - Central Indiana
Just about every cupcake here is as unique as they come. These craft cupcakes come in a variety of flavors such as the "Burt Reynolds" (complete with a mustache, of course) and the Harry Potter-inspired "Butterbeer." They're also pretty large for just cupcakes.
3. Zaharako's Ice Cream Parlor - Columbus
For the best banana split around, you have to try Zaharako's in Columbus. The inside of this building is decked out like an old fashioned ice cream parlor and candy store and their ice cream is divine. They also serve food here, so you can grab dinner before your dessert (or just have dessert for dinner...whichever feels right...).
4. The General American Donut Co - Indianapolis, IN
This Indianapolis based donut shop has a laid back look and feel to it, but the donuts are out of this world. With flavors like Maple Bourbon Bacon, Coffee & Cream, Salted Caramel, PB&J, Apple Fritter, and Black Raspberry Key Lime, you're sure to find the most unique combination around.
5. Designer Desserts - Valparaiso
Cupcake lovers in NW Indiana can satisfy their sweet tooth cravings at Designer Desserts. These unique cupcake flavors include flavors like Orange Dreamsicle, Creme Brulee, Green Tea, Blackberry Almond, and Flying Monkey. They also do wedding and special event cakes, including a rainbow unicorn cake. Yum!

At Bites, you never know what you're going to find. Macaroons, cupcakes, cheesecake, and muffins round out some of the usual suspects, but there are always unique creations to try. Cake pops, cookie dough shooters, and homemade pop tarts are just a few of the unique creations you'll find here.
