We're talking about Hickory Hills Barbecue in the town of Edinburgh. This tiny BBQ restaurant is situated along US 31, south of Indianapolis.
Situated in a former hot dog stand from 1948, this barbecue joint is open March through December with a winter break January through February.
This special little place was opened in 2004 by Tim Blackwell, who used to work in construction. Prior to opening the place, he kept a trailer in his backyard where he smoked meat for friends.
Hickory Hill is most famous for its fall-off-the-bone ribs and over-sized, half-pound pulled pork sandwiches. Locals love it for the three types of sauces: sweet, vinegar, and habanero hot barbecue.
Like we said, seating is scarce at this tiny BBQ shack that has just five tables inside for patrons, but...
There is plenty of extra seating outside in a sheltered picnic area where the hickory wood is stored. Otherwise, most people just grab-and-go.
Other special food items found here include smoked chicken and sausage, gumbo, Cajun cole slaw, baked beans, and other classic southern foods.
Stop by anytime between 11 a.m. and 8 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday to enjoy the best barbecue in town.
Hickory Hills Barbecue is located at 16021 US-31, Edinburgh, IN 46124, and you can get more information on its Facebook page here.
