Vevay is one of the nicer small towns in Indiana; it's quite literally known as the "Little Switzerland" of the Hoosier State, and there's plenty to do, see and appreciate while you're here. But what do you do in Little Switzerland when the weather's hot but you want to enjoy the outdoors anyway? Easy - you head out to enjoy some of the best camping in Indiana: a cute little campground called Sandy Beach, which has its very own - you guessed it - private beach (with, of course, a river attached). Make your reservations and then come on out: you're in for a great time.
This is Sandy Beach Campground, a wonderful little private respite from the real world perfect for an escape into the great outdoors.
It's a delightfully off-the-beaten-path little place popular among the folks who know it's here. If you've never been, let me show you around.
First of all, it's definitely called Sandy Beach for a reason: it's home to a wonderful sandy beach (surprise) and some truly awesome camping options.
It's fun, affordable, and it really doesn't get much better than a nice night (or three) right next to the water.
Check in, set up, kick back: this place is solely for relaxing.
...okay, well. That, and fun. Lots of fun! No matter what you decide you want your experience to look like, you're sure to enjoy it while spending it at Sandy Beach.
Should you be one of those folks who finds themselves drawn to the water (I'm the same way), there's a boat launch area.
The lake is wonderful for fishing, or just for floating around for a while. Dip your toes in or go full-on swimming: it's up to you!
Few things are more tranquil to me than watching the sun rise - or set - over water, and Sandy Beach is the perfect little place for exactly this.
Get up early and enjoy - soon, other campers will be awake, and the fun will begin for another day.
But until then, it's quiet - and peaceful - beside the water.
The Ohio River has never felt so inviting! Want to book your stay? Give the campgrounds a call at (423) 489-0902. There is no official website, but you can definitely find more info on Google Local.
