The holidays are a magical time meant for family and friends to come together and celebrate. We have all sorts of traditions in the Hoosier State, from various delightful holiday drive-thrus to awe-inspiring shows, wintery wonderlands, and so much more. There are also quite a few parties and events that are holiday must-dos, like one winter festival in Indiana that's been going strong for quite some time: the delightful Festival of Trees. Going strong for eight years now, this year's festivities include 75 brilliantly-decorated Christmas trees for your viewing pleasure - among other things!
Every year, the Indiana Historical Society puts together this wonderful event with plenty of things to do, see, and celebrate.
The trees are the main draw, of course. Each is decorated in a way that represents individuals, families, and local organizations. Trust us - you've never seen so many unique trees in your life!
Guests have, of course, the ability to vote for their favorite tree. Who will win this year? Guess we'll find out!
There is plenty of time to check the exhibit out; it runs Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and on Sundays from noon to 5 p.m. There are also extended hours on December 7th, 14th, 21st, and 28th, where the fun will go from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
You never know who you'll run into during this time of year...
...for example, everyone's favorite little holiday buddies, the elves on shelves, will be around for the goings-on while reporting every attendee's behavior to Santa himself - so make sure to be on your best! And if you're more of a mensch-on-a-bench person, no worries - he'll be there, too!
Throughout the weeks of the festival, there are planned events and activities designed for ultimate family fun.
This year, enjoy "Twilight Tuesdays with Hotel Tango" on Tuesdays from December 7th to the 28th, crafting for the kids, a holiday display themed from one of the most beloved Christmas movies of all time, and plenty more.
There are also plenty of interactive/immersive activities planned, storytimes with Santa, holiday movies, and for those who prefer not to come in person, an online version of the festivities.
The virtual experience opened on November 12th, so you can check it out now if you so desire!
Everyone who wishes to can pre-order a special ornament designed just for this year's fun and games, too!
Best of all, you get to experience all of this for a super affordable price; tickets are just $13. The ornament is the same price, so plan accordingly and make sure to visit the official website for orders and pre-orders.
The festival is closed on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Years' Eve, and New Years' Day.
For tickets, galleries, a full schedule of events, and more make sure to visit the official Festival of Trees website. Need more of the holiday spirit in your life?
