Indiana is known for many things, and being home to eight of the world's biggest attractions is one of them. These oversized things make for incredible roadside stops, and every Hoosier needs to see them. From the many natural wonders in Indiana to roadside attractions, this state is full of gigantic things. Check out some of the world's largest things in Indiana:
1. World's Largest Candle
Starting our list of the world's largest things in Indiana is the world's largest candle. Situated right out front of the Warm Glow Candle Company, which is known for its bumpy candles, this giant statue stands nearly two stories high. The shop itself is massive too and contains 22,000 square feet of seasonal gifts and candies.
2. World's Largest Steer
Known as Old Ben, the world's largest steer is the largest ever born in the world (1902). He weighed nearly 5,000 pounds and was 16 feet long. He only lived to be about eight years old though as he fell and broke his leg in 1910, but you can still see his body on display on Old Ben Drive in Kokomo. He's one of the most interesting roadside attractions in Indiana.
3. World's Largest Sycamore Stump
Located in the same place as Big Ben is this gigantic rotted-out corpse of a sycamore tree that grew outside of Kokomo. A massive storm tore it down, leaving just this stump. It's 57 feet around and 18 feet wide. The world's largest sycamore stump is one of the most unique things to see in Indiana.
4. World's Largest Ball Of Paint
If you love finding weird roadside attractions in Indiana, look no further than the world's largest ball of paint. Painted at least once every single day, this massive ball contains thousands upon thousands of layers. It began in 1977 when the owner asked his son to paint the outside of a baseball with blue paint. More than 40 years later, that little ball is lost inside about 14 feet and 2.5 tons of various colored paint.
5. World's Largest Toilet
This amazing attraction is unlike anything you've ever seen before. Located at Kidscommons in the ExploraHouse exhibit, the worlds largest toilet is a slide that lets kids learn about plumbing. They can also climb into the walls and other inner workings of this oversized house. It's one of the most unique things to see in Indiana.
6. World's Largest Egg
Created in 1946, the world's largest egg welcomes people to the town of Mentone, Indiana. It was created to advertise the town's annual egg festival and proclaims the town "The Egg Basket of the Midwest." The egg weighs 3,000 pounds and is about 10 feet tall.
7. World's Largest Celtic Cross (Carved From a Single Rock)
On display at Blue Heron Winery, this beautiful piece of art was carved by local artist Gregg Harris. It took nearly two years to create the world's largest Celtic cross from a 20-foot boulder but it was well worth it.
8. World's Largest Popcorn Ball
The last on our list of the world's largest things in Indiana is the worlds largest popcorn ball. Though it does not actually exist anymore, this gargantuan ball of popcorn was one of the biggest attractions at the Indiana State Fair in 2013. It weighed 6,510 pounds and was 8 feet in diameter with a circumference of nearly 25 feet. After its big premiere, it was pulled apart and used to feed livestock, but the Guinness World Record still stands.
