Are you looking to get one last good hike in before the weather gets too cold? We're lucky to have many gorgeous places to hike, from Clifty Falls State Park to the Indiana Dunes to the little known Shades State Park to the always popular Brown County State Park. But, if you're looking for something a little more rugged and completely out of this world, there's only one hiking spot that will do.
Knobstone Trail is the longest hiking trail in Indiana, clocking in at just under 50 miles long. This gorgeous hiking spot can be found deep in southern Indiana, just 15 miles from Kentucky.
The hike begins at Dream Lake and ends at Delaney Park, though hikers can start at either location. Unlike many hiking spots in Indiana, Knobstone trail offers challenging climbs and rough terrain.
Many hikers only hike part of this huge trail, but if you're hoping to complete the whole loop, expect to camp out for a few days.
Knobstone Trail is definitely not a hiking spot for beginners, but if you're up for a challenge or feeling bored with your usual hiking trails, Knobstone is definitely the trail to try.
You'll witness gorgeous scenery, no matter what time of year. This hilly hiking trail is usually fairly quiet and peaceful, giving you lots of time alone with nature.
With the large number of trees throughout this trail, you can easily camp out in a hammock, though tents also work. Since it's so lightly trafficked, you'll get a great night's sleep, without hearing other nearby campers.
