Indiana is a breathtakingly beautiful state; Hoosiers are quite lucky to call such a scenic place home! There are some counties, though, that have somehow managed to be even more photogenic than the rest of the state (if you can believe it). One of the counties most frequently called the "most beautiful" is Brown County; it's famous for its incredible beauty, and folks come from all over the country to see it. Nestled within the region is Brown County State Park, and nestled within that park are several amazing hiking trails. There's one, in particular, we're going to examine today: the absolutely amazing Trail #2, which leads to an unusual hidden overlook in Indiana you've got to see to believe.
This trail is a 2.3-mile journey through beautiful forestland, with plenty of items of interest to keep your attention piqued along the way.
You'll find all sorts of sights to admire out here; from stone steps to wooden walkways, you'll be led on an adventure you won't soon forget!
As we previously mentioned, Brown County is often hailed as the most beautiful region in all of Indiana (if not the Midwest). This trail gives you a front-row seat as to why folks feel that way.
During the spring and summer months, the greenery is incomparable.
You'll feel like you're in a forestland paradise for most of the hike; it's a lush, vibrantly alive place with so much to love. You'll want to stop along the way to admire the surroundings and take them all in.
Continue to follow the trail to fairytale stone bridges and climb some stone and wooden stairs until you reach what is quite possibly the best part of the whole hike.
Eventually, you will reach North Lookout, where you'll climb just a few more steps until...
…you are greeted with an incredible view of the surrounding woods of Brown County State Park.
Scenic lookouts aren't exactly a commonplace commodity in the great state of Indiana, but Trail #2 at Brown County State Park is one of those rare gems you'll find yourself revisiting over and over - particularly because of that intensely beautiful view.
The trail is open year-round, and it's gorgeous all the time - but make sure to come back during the fall, when the trees have transitioned from their usual emerald greens to hues of golds, oranges, and reds.
Trail #2 is an amazing point-to-point trail and has approximately 270 steps along the length of the hike. While you're at Brown County State Park, you'll probably want to check out the rest of the place; trust us, it's amazing, and you won't regret taking every opportunity you can get to explore it.
