Angola, Indiana is well known for many things, but one of the top attractions here for years was the Fun Spot Amusement Park & Zoo. Fun Spot Amusement Park & Zoo first opened its doors in 1956. Up until 2008, it was home to the only roller coaster with an inversion: the Afterburner.

Many of us Indianans have fond memories of coming here as kids. This was a great place for family fun when the weather was nice.

There was even an unexpectedly large zoo area, where you could see exotic animals, such as tigers. In all, the amusement park had 24 rides, an arcade, water slides, shops, and food stands.

In 2008, the theme park shut its doors for good. It was a sad end for the summertime memories thousands of us Hoosiers had looked forward to creating each season.

Many of the rides have been sold, but this abandoned amusement park in Indiana remains relatively intact and is hauntingly beautiful to behold.

You'll even still see several of the park's famous roller coasters looping across the area. They're easily spotted from the road while driving.

The rides have begun to deteriorate with time, but it's easy to imagine this park restored to its former glory.
