One thing we Illinoisians love is a great lakeside experience — whether it's finding a unique dining option or a fun outdoor activity, we truly love the water. Still, sometimes I get a bit jealous of Wisconsin for its abundance of upscale supper clubs, many of which are on stunning rivers and lakes. Fortunately, you don't have to go all the way to the Wisco border to get a delicious waterfront meal. This upscale lakefront restaurant in Lake Villa, Illinois checks all those boxes and more.
Reflections Restaurant & Lounge, 38564 N. Edgewood St., is a Polish-American supper club located in Northern Illinois.
The lodge-like diner sits right at the water's edge of Deep Lake, meaning you can access it by car or boat.
Family-owned since 1999, the restaurant showcases a cabin feel and is adorned with family photos, strung lights, rich, warm woods, antiques, and relics of Poland.
With hung canoes and netting also serving as decor, there's no way to forget you're practically on the water at this inviting diner. Start your meal off with a refreshing cocktail from the bar, or...
...head straight for the patio. A gorgeous A-frame roof helps keep some of the hot sun off you while you stare ahead at the sparkling water, complete with all the good views, food, and company you need.
The multi-layer patio offers both tables and seats right at the rail for the lakefront dining experience of your dreams.
Relax and replenish as the sun slowly sets over the water.
As the sun goes down, the spacious deck glows with warm lighting. And even if you grab a table inside, you'll still get incredible views thanks to the dining room's large windows.
Though it may feel like you're a world away from the cornfields of Illinois, you're actually enjoying an authentic meal at one of its most beloved outdoor dining experiences.
Personally, I'm heading here for a date night or special celebration. The restaurant can also accommodate parties!
Of course, no meal is complete without some of Reflection's famous pierogis.
Give me a lakeside cocktail and some fresh pierogis and I'm a happy woman.
Other favorites include the Polish platter, ribs, chicken, homemade soup, and the Friday night fish fry with fresh cod and perch.
Save room for a fresh-baked dessert, like the sweet carrot cake or the creamy-flaky house specialty — Napoleons.
