In River Grove, not far from the Des Plaines River, Gene and Jude's has been serving up Chicagoland's best hot dogs since 1946.
The restaurant has gained so much popularity that it has won awards and has been featured on television networks and in magazines. It is considered by many to have the #1 hot dog in America.
It bills itself as a "no seats, no ketchup, no pretense, no nonsense" restaurant, and though there was a time when the menu was slightly more expansive, it currently only sells hot dogs and fries.
The iconic Chicago hot dog is served on a bun with yellow mustard, chopped white onions, sweet pickle relish, a dill pickle spear, tomato slices, pickled sport peppers, and celery salt.
This incredible restaurant serves hot dogs with all that and a pile of fries. You haven't had a real frank until you've had one from this place.
Kids of all ages love this fun and fast hot dog stand, so grab the whole family and get in line for the tastiest dinner in Illinois. But bring your own ketchup, if you're into that sort of thing.
