With a population of about 7,500, the antique town of Sandwich, Illinois is a quiet, charming community that touches DeKalb, Kendall, and LaSalle counties in the north region of the state. Below are the nine vintage shops that call this place home.
In addition to antiquing, Illinoisans love this town for its annual county fair that has been going on since 1888 and which draws more than 100,000 people each year.
1. Olde Timers Antique Centre (131 East Church Street)
This multi-dealer mall features more than 150 vendors. Everything being sold is from before 1970 and is in good shape. There are three floors of items to search through, and patrons can even bring things in for a free appraisal.
2. JR Antiques (723 W Church Street)
Making Sandwich the best antique town around, this popular little store is known for its collectibles, furniture, and jewelry. Though it is located on the edge of town, it is not to be forgotten.
3. Sandwich Antique Mall (2300 East Route 34)
This eccentric shop consists of both low- and high-ticket items. Patrons enjoy searching through a plethora of vintage decor, furniture, pottery, glassware, and much more. You may never want to leave.
4. Two Sisters Then and Now (316 S Main Street)
Editor's Note: Unfortunately, this antique store is permanently closed.
This is an antique shop in an antique home. The building is from 1857 but did not become a store until 1998. It is known for selling art by locals as well as farmhouse candles and various antiques.
5. Farmer's Daughter (303 S Main Street)
Since 2000, this lovely antique store has been a prime spot to find something new and unique for your home or as a gift to a loved one. You'll find home decor, hand-poured candles, furniture, and other one-of-a-kind goods.
6. Vintage Farmgirls (37 S Main Street)
This vintage gift shop is perfect for a day of wandering around. It is located in the historic Village Square Mall and has been selling goods since 2016. Everything from home decor to homemade products can be found here.
7. Bittersweets (128 S Main Street)
Another home decor heaven, this gift shop is one of the best in this antique town. It is located in a big, beautiful old building that is always filled to the brim with vintage items.
8. The Rusty Rooster Old & New (2300 E Church Street)
This charming little store sits just outside of downtown Sandwich and has been around since 2012. It is home to unique furnishings and accents as well as vintage clothing and candles. You're bound to find something special here.
9. Prindi's Antique Mall (2 E Railroad Street)
Located right at the center of town, this popular place to go antiquing is known for selling a little bit of everything. Locals love to browse old books and records, jewelry and collectibles, and more. Come get lost in the endless aisles of vintage goods.
