La Carreta hasn't been around for all that long. They opened in May earlier this year. However, they've already become one of the top spots in Idaho Falls to grab some delicious tacos, along with other mouthwatering Mexican dishes.
The owner, Jorge Sahagun, had aspired to open his own Mexican restaurant for some time. Immigrating to the United States nearly 15 years ago, Sahagun quickly realized he had a passion for cooking and sharing his amazing food with others.
At first, an old bus may not seem like the most appetizing place to enjoy a meal...but you'll be pleasantly surprised! The bus is surprisingly clean and cozy. There are benches located inside the bus to enjoy your meal, or you can eat at one of the picnic tables outside.
On the menu, you'll find more than 40 different dishes to choose from. The selection is comprised of typical Mexican dishes including tacos, enchiladas, burritos, tortas, quesadillas, and so much more.
However, the tacos are truly the star of the show at La Carreta. The spicy pork and the cow tongue tacos are the most popular options, but there are a wide selection of meat fillings to choose from. Be sure to stop by on Thursday when all tacos are just a dollar.
It's crazy to think some of Idaho Falls' best tacos are hiding in this unassuming bus, of all places. However, you're bound to agree from the moment you take your first bite! Stop by La Carreta for authentic south-of-the-border cuisine for a quick and tasty meal that's bound to satisfy.
