Roberts, Idaho is a small town north of Idaho Falls in southeastern Idaho. Once a bustling town, and considered one of the oldest towns in southeastern Idaho, it is now a small community with just a few hundred residents. But, not all of these residents are alive. The Old Roberts Hotel, originally known as The Patrie Hotel, was built in 1892 and is one of the most well-known buildings in this small town, and for good reason. Not only is it a historic building and one place where you can spend the night, but it is also allegedly haunted.
If you love staying in historic, quirky, and unique places, the Old Roberts Hotel is for you.
This building has quite a bit of history. When it was built in the 1800s, it was a single-story building. In the early 1900s, additions were made to create a unique two-story building, which is what you see today. This hotel was bought by its current owners in the 1990s, who have worked hard to renovate and restore this historic structure.
Today when you visit, you'll notice that this hotel is not large and grand, but it features four bed and breakfast-style rooms that you can stay in … but only if you dare.
Each room is tastefully decorated and features its own set of amenities. Most rooms have queen-size or single-size beds and plenty of space to spread out and relax.
No matter which room you choose to stay in, you will have access to a shared bathroom, kitchen, and dining area.
Below the hotel is Bj's Bayou, a Cajun and Creole restaurant that is one of the most popular and delicious places to eat in Roberts.
But regardless of how long you visit and what room you stay in, you may just have a paranormal encounter at the Old Roberts Hotel. It is believed there are 15 different spirits who frequent this hotel including men, women, and children.
There are reports of spirit children playing hide and seek throughout the hotel, spirits who will hide things, bags that mysteriously become unpacked, and unusual sounds. Some of the most frequently-seen spirits include an Asian man who is believed to have once worked in the hotel, a soldier, a woman in a green dress, and an entire family who are playful, yet extremely mischievous.
While the Old Roberts Hotel may not be your traditional place to stay in Idaho, it certainly is one of the spookiest. Are you brave enough to spend the night?
