There are many things I love about summer but at the top of the list is all of the produce that is in season. While I love shopping at local farmers’ markets for many of my fresh produce needs, there is nothing quite like visiting a farm and picking my own. The Berry Ranch in Nampa is a locally-owned farm where you can pick buckets and buckets of berries in the summer months. It’s a fabulous day trip destination.
Welcome to the Berry Ranch. Located in Nampa, this farm grows and sells fruits and vegetables all summer long.
When you visit, you’ll notice this is a real, working farm. You’ll see farm equipment and livestock as you walk around. This is the perfect place to get out of the city.
During your visit, check out the Store-In-A-Barn. This unique store is where you can purchase pre-picked fruits and vegetables, honey, meats, and more.
When the berries are in season, you can pick baskets and baskets of berries. Strawberry picking is my personal favorite and these berries are typically ripe from the end of May to mid-June.
Keep in mind that the pick-your-own berries start approximately one week after the season begins and only last for two to three weeks depending on the weather. Don’t delay!
Raspberries are another personal favorite of mine and are usually ready around the middle of June. There is also a fall crop that typically starts in early August.
No matter what type of berries you choose, you’ll need to bring your own containers and all pickers must be at least three years old. Cash or check only. There is a fee per person that must be paid before you head into the field but will be credited toward the cost of berries that you pick.
The Berry Ranch makes for a delightful day trip for the family. There’s something perfectly sweet about time with family and buckets and buckets of berries.
For more information, including current picking seasons, visit the Berry Ranch website and the Berry Ranch Facebook page.
