When the weather starts to cool off, many people don’t think about camping in Georgia. But we’re lucky enough to have mild winters through most of the state, and even our coldest regions are not too bad when compared to more northern areas of the country. We’ve got plenty of great opportunities for year-round camping at state parks in Georgia. No matter the season, you’ll be met with incredibly scenic beauty and ample opportunities for recreation. Here are a few of our favorite places to pitch a tent or park an RV:

Fort Yargo State Park is perfect for summer, with its 260-acre lake with a beach and fishing areas. But it's great for a visit at any time of year! You'll find a wonderful year-round campground with cabins, cottages, tent and RV sites, and even six yurts for rent.

Looking to enjoy a weekend getaway to the historic city of Savannah? Stay at nearby Skidaway Island State Park. This beautiful oasis has miles of trails with moss-lined oak trees, and so much wildlife to observe. There are three cabins and nearly 100 tent and RV sites available.

Tugaloo State Park offers yurts for those looking for something a little more glamorous. You can also rent cabins or utilize one of the over 100 tent and RV sites here. With 400 acres to explore, access to the massive Lake Hartwell, a beach, and tennis and volleyball courts, you won't run out of things to do here!
Tallulah Gorge State Park has been called the best state park in Georgia, and it's really no wonder why. The massive canyon here is definitely one of the Peach State's natural wonders. There are 20 miles of trails in the park, plus a 63-acre lake. You'll find backcountry campsites, plus more developed tent and RV sites.

Another state park in Georgia that is incredible at any time of year is the amazing Cloudland Canyon State Park. There are cottages, yurts, tent and RV sites, and backcountry sites right by waterfalls. This place is heaven!

The 233-acre Vogel State Park is one of the most underrated state parks in Georgia. There's a lot to see and do here, including hiking and fishing. The massive Lake Trahlyta and Trahlyta Falls provide ample opportunities for sightseeing. With cottages and campsites galore open year-round, this one belongs on your bucket list, for sure.

You'd think that George L. Smith State Park would be well-known: after all, it boasts 1,600 acres of amazing landscapes. However, it's tucked away in Emanuel County, a bit of a remote area that isn't frequented by visitors. There are primitive campsites and walk-in sites available here, plus a few cottages.
