There are some parts of Georgia that really come to life during the holidays. Whether it’s because of the decorations they put up, the events they host, or just the community spirit that really elevate each of the towns. If you want to take a few road trips this year and see some towns show off their holiday schedule, then we have just the places to visit. Take a look at these seven places in Georgia that make each Christmas season special.
1. Helen, Georgia
Christmas in Alpine Helen, Georgia is an experience everyone should have at least once in their lives. Whether it’s wandering the streets lined with decorations and lights or visiting for their annual Christkindlmarkt, this is one town that surely does the holidays right.
2. Gainesville, Georgia
Gainesville, Georgia is a small town that comes to life when dressed up for the holidays. Wander through the main street and see all of the shops, stores, and restaurants lit up with decorations. Plus, guests can keep an eye out for unique events like Swim with Santa or the Annual Christmas Festival Concerts!
3. Madison, Georgia
Madison has been known as one of the best small towns in Georgia, especially during the warmer months. But, if you’ve never visited during the holidays, then now is the time. See all of the beautiful Victorian-style homes decorated to the nines, or stroll through the downtown area stopping in at local stores and shops.
4. Dahlonega, Georgia
There might not be a better town to visit in Georgia for the holidays than Dahlonega. Whether it’s the twinkling lights strewn about, the wreaths and decorations in the town square, or the Christmas trees seemingly on every corner, this town becomes a wonderland during Christmastime. Experience Dahlonega’s Old Fashioned Christmas, the parade, Christmas carolers, carriage rides, and so much more.
5. Thomasville, Georgia
While unfortunately this year the annual Victorian Christmas Festival isn’t taking place, that doesn’t mean that Thomasville still won’t celebrate the holidays the best they can. There really isn’t ever a bad time to visit Savannah, Georgia, but we are especially drawn to visiting during the holidays.
