You know the old saying "you can't judge a book by its cover?" That's certainly true for businesses. Sure, there are a lot of fantastic shops in Georgia that are trendy, with stylish decor and top-of-the-line marketing that has you wanting to come back for more as soon as you walk out the door. But we certainly also have a lot of hidden gem spots that don't look like much from the outside, but contain some of the most delicious items around. One of our favorites in that latter category is Russo's Seafood in Savannah. This delectable shop has been selling fresh seafood in the Low Country for decades.
You might be tempted to skip over this place. It looks a little rundown and it's in an area of town a few blocks away from the refined tourist district.
After all, there are plenty of great local seafood restaurants where you can pick up prepared food that's already been cooked.
But there's a reason this charming seafood shop has been in business since 1946. Here, you'll find some of the most delectable, freshest seafood in Georgia.
Oysters, shrimp, fish: you can find it all here, practically straight off the boat.
Russo's Seafood Restaurant is located just behind the fresh fish shop. It's currently experiencing staffing issues and has limited hours of operation, but we can't wait for it to reopen again.
Seafood markets are such an important part of Georgia's history. This is a wonderful spot to pick up some deliciously fresh seafood in an old-fashioned seafood market.
Whether you're looking to purchase in bulk to serve up a big low-country boil or just want to enjoy some seafood for dinner, Russo's is the place to go.
You can find out more about Russo's Seafood Savannah and Bluffton, South Carolina locations from the shop's website.
