When choosing accommodations for your vacations, it's a good idea to make sure you're sleeping close to where your destination is. After all, we all have limited time for recreation: you don't want to waste it having to deal with traveling to the sights you want to see! One great way to combine your overnight stay with your destination is to stay in a state park lodge in Georgia. Amicalola Falls State Park and Lodge is one of our favorite getaways. The views are magnificent and you can stay right on-site!
Amicalola Falls State Park is one of the most stunning state parks around. The park is in Dawsonville, not far from Ellijay and Dahlonega, and is a nature lover's paradise.
The cascade that shares the park's name is the tallest waterfall in Georgia. It's a magnificent 729 feet high, with seven different cascades.
The falls' name is derived from a Cherokee word meaning "tumbling waters."
The park has 24 campsites for tent and RV camping, plus cabins in two different locations.
However, if you're wanting an extra-luxurious experience, you'll want to stay in the Amicalola Falls Lodge.
You'll get all the convenience of camping on-site, but with less "roughing it" and more "sleeping in comfort."
The lodge offers the perfect chance to enjoy mountaintop views. The location couldn't be better: you're just steps away from the mighty falls.
This is such a magnificent place and there's no better way to experience it than by staying in this state park lodge in Georgia!
