The country's most beloved soft drink was created right here in Georgia. In 1886, John S. 2. The Infamous Burning of Atlanta in Gone With the Wind
Anyone that has watched Gone With the Wind understands the historical significance of the movie, in which you can see firsthand the Union forces under the command of Maj. Gen. William T. Sherman, burning Atlanta to the ground.
If you know your state's history, then you know that James E. Oglethorpe was in charge of the new colony of Georgia. Oglethorpe gave settlers land and supplies and wanted a place that was neither rich or poor. His statue remains in the city of Savannah to this day.
4. The Tomb of Martin Luther King Jr. and Corretta King
One of the most important people ever to come out of Georgia is Martin Luther King Jr., the human rights icon and winner of the Nobel Peace Prize. Everyone in this state understands his significance in history, and his significance for the state.

5. Centennial Olympic Park After the 1996 Atlanta Bombing
What should have been a joyous time for the state of Georgia hosting the Summer Olympics turned into a terrible tragedy as a terrorist attack in Centennial Olympic Park killed two people and wounded more than 100.
If you're from Georgia then you most likely know that pecans are a top crop for the state. What you must also know is that Georgia makes some of the best pecan pie ever.
If you're from Georgia, you most likely will immediately recognize the Bulldog as UGA's famous mascot. (And maybe even every time you see a bulldog on the sidewalk, you secretly wonder if it's him.)

Why We Love It: It's taken several trips for me to figure out my perfect "weekender bag that's TSA approved," but I've found my perfect carry on with the TOBIQ Colorado 30L. We love to travel in and around the Peach State. There's so much to do and see not only within our own borders but within our neighboring states and the ones that lie further beyond. But there's also something to be said for the joy of coming home after a long trip. When you've been on the highway for what feels like endless hours and finally hit that "Welcome to Georgia" sign - well, there's really nothing like it. It's a sight for sore eyes that fills the heart with joy and a sense of homecoming.

There's so much to love about every corner of our state. In the southwest, you've got cities like Americus and Albany, plus rural regions filled with farmland and forests.
This region of the state is often referred to as the "quail capital of the world." Hunters come from all over to enjoy the sport.
Heading up towards the northwestern part of the state, you'll of course hit the bustling metropolis of Atlanta, known for numerous attractions and culture.
The middle of the state is often ignored, but there's a good bit to do here! Macon is such a historic town with plenty of attractions, and there's a lot of rural farmland and quaint small towns in this region of Georgia.
And of course, who could forget the magnificent coastal city of Savannah towards our southeast? Filled with culture, natural beauty, and architectural splendor, this is a place like nowhere else in the world.
It doesn't matter if you've just gone on a brief vacation or you've moved away and are traveling back to visit family - the sight of a Georgia sign is a wonderful experience that delights even the weariest of travelers.
