The Plaza Theatre in Atlanta, Georgia has been an institution for many years. What is truly an Atlanta landmark, this theater also holds the title for Atlanta’s longest continuously operating movie theater, which is quite the accomplishment. However, since the quarantine orders have been in place, the Plaza Theatre has had to pivot their business model, and in fact, is offering a new pop-up drive-in movie theater experience that includes food delivered from local Atlanta restaurants! Sounds like a fun night out on the town, right?
The Plaza Theatre in Atlanta, Georgia first opened in December 1939, when it showed Norma Shearer’s “The Women.”
The theater has created a safe, contact-free movie-going experience, with advanced online ticketing, car space reservations in the lot, plus concessions that can be purchased in advance.
Local restaurant Southern Belle, for instance, has provided a special takeout menu for movie-goers and will deliver concessions while you kick back and relax.
Since offering the drive-in experience, the theater has had many sold-out shows, with people loving the new set-up and getting a taste of nostalgia while they’re at it.
