Do you know we have several castles in Georgia? The newest one opened for visitors in the summer of 2023 after a lengthy construction process that took more than a decade.
Uhuburg Castle is an absolutely magnificent architectural triumph that's sure to become one of the most-visited attractions in this popular tourist town. This Eagle Owl Castle is truly one of the state's most remarkable buildings and a visit here just might make you feel like you stepped back in time a millennium or so. Let's check out this Helen, GA castle!
The Eagle Owl Castle has 12 towers, a turret, three gatehouses, an 8-story lookout tower, and walls. It's tucked away on a 45-acre mountaintop property and looks straight out of a fairy tale.
Building Uhuburg was a massive undertaking that took over 15 years. Construction started back in 2008.
We think one of the best aspects of this incredible structure is it is hidden from the road.
Uhuburg serves as a place of philosophical enlightenment that champions Renaissance values.
A 1,300-foot wall in the courtyard is covered in murals that represent religions and philosophies from throughout history.
The two acres of gardens are filled with beautiful statues and plants.
The builders made a concerted effort to combine bits of the local area with the idea of a classical European castle.
And the inside is just as impressive with high beams and wooden floors.
Uhuburg Castle offers four rooms for an unforgettable stay where you'll feel like royalty. The two-night minimum stay includes daily breakfast service in the dining room.
Why not enjoy one of the magical overnight experiences while visiting this one-of-a-kind castle in Georgia?
There are even occasional classes and demonstrations here of medieval-era skills, such as falconry and swordsmanship.
Try your hand at Medieval Swordsmanship with the Appalachian Sword Club. The mini workshops are taught through historic manuscripts complete with demonstrations and hands-on opportunities for visitors. Also, plan to return in January for the CastleFaire - a Renaissance Festival at Uhuburg.
While this place is beautiful every day, a trip in the fall is extra exquisite.
