Wisconsin has a couple of really unique and different geological regions and those different regions are prime for growing different types of grapes and fruits. Thanks to history, we've actually turned into a pretty awesome home for some delicious vineyards and wineries. Because they need room to grow their grapes, many of them are located in truly beautiful, sprawling areas of the state that are especially gorgeous as the leaves start to change color.
You could literally go on a wine weekend anywhere in the state and not run out of places to visit, but these are some of the spots in the most beautiful parts of the state that get even better as summer fades away. In no particular order, here are some of the best Wisconsin wineries to visit in the fall:
1. Cold Country Vines and Wines - Kewaunee
Door County is known as prime leaf peeping area and Kewaunee is right there. With 35 acres along Lake Michigan, you will not be disappointed by the beauty here. Located at E3207 Nuclear Rd, Kewaunee, WI 54216.
2. Clover Meadow Winery - Shell Lake
This winery enjoys a location in one of the state's oldest forests, making a trip here pretty much perfect in fall - they're surrounded by nothing but color. Located at 23396 Thompson Rd, Shell Lake, WI 54871.
3. Baraboo Bluff Winery - Baraboo
As the name implies, they're on a bluff overlooking the river valley below. Ages and ages ago, these were actually mountains, so you'll get an awesome view of all the surrounding terrain. Located at E9120 Terrytown Rd, Baraboo, WI 53913
4. Autumn Harvest Winery - Chippewa Falls
These folks have a full orchard and a wonderful patio from which to enjoy it. Located at 19947 Co Hwy J, Chippewa Falls, WI 54729
5. Harbor Ridge Winery - Egg Harbor
This log-cabin winery melds with the nature around it for a totally unique and magical location in Door County. Located at 4690 Rainbow Ridge Ct, Egg Harbor, WI 54209.
6. O'Neil Creek Winery - Bloomer
The heart of the Chippewa Valley is home to O'Neil Creek Winery. Enjoy all the wonderful geography and views at this stunning spot. Located at 15369 82nd St, Bloomer, WI 54724.
7. Hawk's Mill Winery - Browntown
These folks occupy a hilltop that overlooks Cadiz Springs State Park, giving you all the gorgeous vistas you could ever hope to see. Located at W8170 Pilz Rd, Browntown, WI 53522.
8. Tenba Ridge Winery - Blair
These folks have a stunning view over thousands of acres of Driftless region hills and valleys and have thoughtfully built a terrace for you to enjoy it all from. Located at N27587 Joe Coulee Rd, Blair, WI 54616.
9. Bayfield Winery - Bayfield
With a spot in a historic barn and location close to Lake Superior, there's not a lot that Bayfield Winery doesn't have going for it. Located at 86565 Co Hwy J, Bayfield, WI 54814.
10. Lautenbach's Orchard Country Winery - Fish Creek
The dairy barn is a century old and the orchards here take up more than 100 acres. This place just screams fall and harvest time. Located at 9197 WI-42, Fish Creek, WI 54212
11. Seven Hawks Vineyards - Fountain City
The vineyards here are on steep hillsides that overlook the MIssissippi River valley. It really doesn't get better than this. Located at 17 North St, Fountain City, WI 54629.
12. Apple Barn Orchard and Winery - Elkhorn
These folks have hours year round and are an easy drive from both Madison and Milwaukee. And they have some truly gorgeous views in the fall. Located at W6384 Sugar Creek Rd, Elkhorn, WI 53121.

13. Vernon Vineyards Winery - Viroqua
Overlooking the Bad Axe River, this area is known for hilly countryside and you'll get to see much of it from here. Located at S3426 Peterson Lane and Highway Y, Viroqua, WI 54665.
