Ever wish you could travel back in time? Well, you can get pretty darn close with a visit to Scoop DeVille. This 1950s-themed ice cream parlor – complete with a working soda fountain and costumed servers – is like a retro dream brought to life. Take a look:
When you’re craving a taste of the good old days, a visit to Scoop DeVille in downtown Hartford is sure to hit the spot.
Just like the sign says, the eatery specializes in old-fashioned treats.
But it’s not just the treats that’ll transport patrons to the past. With an undeniable vintage vibe, stepping inside is like stepping straight into the 1950s.
A checkerboard floor and vinyl booths and stools are likely the first nods to the past that’ll capture your attention.
The servers dressed in decade-appropriate attire are a sure second.
A working soda fountain is part of the timeless ambiance, too. Watching the authentically vintage soda fountain in action is a treat all its own.
The nostalgic touches also include some local history, thanks to a collection of historic photos and memorabilia.
And to really drive home the vintage vibe, there’s a menu of old-fashioned favorites, which includes 32 flavors of homemade ice cream.
It’s not just the ice cream that’s homemade, though. The cones are also made on-site. Of course, you can always opt to enjoy your favorite ice cream treat in a dish…
…or a cup, should you order a malt, float, or shake.
The enduring fare also includes retro soda in glass bottles, old-fashioned candies, and roasted nuts, which are made using an authentic Bavarian recipe.
Opened in 2009, Scoop DeVille may not be authentically vintage, but it sure does a great job of making you believe that it is!
Between the retro digs and classic fare, Scoop DeVille offers patrons a unique glimpse into the past, making it easy to see why it's a favorite of all ages.
Scoop DeVille is open daily, from 1 p.m. – 8 p.m. For more information, call (262) 673-1957. You can also visit the Scoop DeVille website or Facebook page.
