The Olesen Family opened their first bakery in 1949, using recipes from their Danish grandfather. In its fourth generation, this family-owned bakery continues to create some of the best pastries in Wisconsin.
Over time, the business has expanded to include five Wisconsin locations.
Pictured is the newest store at 5910 Washington Avenue in Racine.
The newest store was created to reflect the Viking heritage of the Olesen family.
The checkout counter is in the shape of a Viking ship.
You'll love little details throughout this store. This guy looks kind of grumpy...maybe he hasn't had a kringle lately.
The award-winning kringle is made with only the best ingredients.
The bakery proudly sources locally whenever possible. They use Door County cherries, Wisconsin cranberries, and Wisconsin cream cheese,
It takes three days to make a kringle.
Everything at O&H Danish Bakery is made completely from scratch, including the kringle. The pastry dough has 36 layers, and making it is a three-day process.
Now is the perfect time of year for the Harvest Kringle, made with fresh apples, cinnamon and bits of toffee.
With 16 varieties of kringle, it's hard to choose one! This is the turtle kringle, made with caramel, pecans and homemade chocolate sauce.
