Wisconsin has some awesome chocolate shops, probably on account of great dairy and the attention given to the craft. Without further ado, the ten top Wisconsin chocolate companies:
1. Ashley's Confectionery (Cedarburg)
People flock to Ashley's for fine, hand-dipped chocolates and fudge.
2. ChocoBella (Milwaukee)
ChocoBella specialized in truffles, chocolate barks, and even exotic chocolates. (Editor's Note: Regretfully, ChocoBella is no longer in business.)
3. Seroogy's Chocolates (De Pere)
Locals certainly keep Seroogy's in business. They just make amazing chocolate, including, a local favorite, the almond meltaway bar.
4. Wilmar's Chocolates (Appleton)
Open since 1956, this corner shop has been making small batch chocolates, local dairy, and fruits and honey sourced from Wisconsin.
5. Sjolinds Chocolate House (Mt. Horeb)
Pronounced "Shoo-linds," you can enjoy handmade confections as well as chocolate bars from around the world at this amazing shop.
6. Red Elephant Chocolate (Milwaukee)
Judging by the outside of this place, you would have had a unique experience. Not only did this place offer handcrafted chocolates, but other desserts, beverages, and ice creams--showcasing chocolate in a variety of awesome ways. (Editor's Note: Unfortunately, Red Elephant has closed its doors for good.)
7. The Chocolate Chisel (Port Washington)
These artisan chocolatiers make chocolate daily--including sea salt caramels, turtles, and more.
8. Guth's End of the Trail Candy Shoppe (Green Lake, Waupun)
Established in 1921, this family has been making chocolate for almost 100 years and now has two locations.
9. Chocolaterie Stam (Middleton)
Chocolaterie Stam had been making fine European chocolates since 1913. You'd have loved the bonbon bundles. (Editor's Note: Chocolaterie Stam has regretfully closed for good.)
10. Beerntsen's (Green Bay)
Another great chocolate shop in Green Bay, Beerntsen's makes excellent hand-dipped chocolates as well as some fantastic ice cream sundaes (all homemade, including ice cream).
